Housing Counseling Program
Pre-Purchase Counseling - our
counselors will help you through the complete process in order to
purchase a home, including first time home buyers grant.
Post Purchase Counseling - we help with budgeting; housing care and
management; availability of grants or loans for which clients may be
eligible; information about identifying and avoiding predatory
lending products; provides assistance to households facing home
ownership problems
Property Inspection Counseling- we help
clients in securing/reviewing a proper home inspection, when require
by lenders and/or other programs.
Mortgage Default and Delinquency Counseling - we provide money management and budgeting in
order to save/prevent a home from foreclosure. Includes proper
negotiation with lenders.
Pre-Loan Counseling- prevention of predatory
loans in conjunction with the application for a purchase money
mortgage, home equity loan, home improvement loan, refinancing
existing loans, etc
Post-Loan Counseling- education to help clients find
possible solutions to get out of existing predatory loans. Deed
Related Problems- assistance with deed transfers; problems arising
out of the title of the property; donor taker transactions;
structuring transfers between family members; and other forms of
acquisition.
Pre-Rental Counseling- our counselors will help you with
the process of renting an adequate unit. Includes providing
information on rights and responsibilities of tenant and landlord;
Fair Housing Laws; advise clients concerning the availability of
rent subsidy programs; assisting clients with reading and/or filling
out the lease and/or rental agreement; obtaining rental housing in
emergency situations; and following grievance procedures.
Post-Occupancy Counseling for Tenants - we provide
counseling to clients as to the state and local laws governing
withholding rent; identifying and encouraging the use of escrow
agents; providing information to clients about security deposits and
their rights to the return of their rental escrow and/or security
deposits etc.
Rental Delinquency Counseling - is provided to
tenants who are behind on their rent. We help them to obtain
financial help/arrangement in order to cure delinquency.
Housing Consumer Education - credit repair and extensive
money management counseling; home maintenance and repair; energy
conservation programs, and other entitlement rebates.

Property Management
Our mission is to offer affordable rental housing in a transitional matter, were our tenants can benefit with the other NSCA department programs to improve their lives. NSCA has a variety of rental housing to match the community needs, from 24hrs emergency maintenance, one, two and three bedroom apartments, large family homes, to apartments designed for our senior population. New applications are accepted all year long.

Employment & Training
The Employment and Training provides a comprehensive career development services to in and out-of-school youth between the ages of 14-21, welfare recipients, unemployed or underemployed individuals and individual exploring new careers. The department offer services to assist individuals in finding jobs and/or occupational trainings that will enable them to support themselves and their families. The services provided are:

Adolescent Violence Reduction Partnership (AVRP)
AVRP is a hands-on, anti-violence collaboration in which AVRP Youth Workers seek to address the social and health services of at risk youth between 10 and 15 years old. AVRP goals are to:
- Increase youths' school attendance and performance by addressing related individual and family issues
- Prevent future or further illegal behavior by participating youth
- Improve the ability of participating youth to comply with the law and to avoid behaviors that become barriers to education, safety, health, and self-sufficiency;
- Increase youth’s understanding of the impact of negative and delinquent behavior on victims, family and community;
- Assure that youth participants do not commit and are not victimized by violent offense;
- Improve participating youths' life skills, social, civic and employment competencies; and
- Improve youths' sense of belonging in and responsibility towards his/her immediate community

Case Management
Provides problem solving interventions that assist the family to function effectively.
Along with the family, Case managers produce a positive support action plan in order to supply the services to meet specific needs and promote self sufficiency.
The case managers provide services to families in the community and the categories included but are not limited to the following:

Beacon Program at Hunter School
The goal of the Beacon program is to establish a school-based community center through a continuum of after school, youth development, and family support activities that will engage children, while providing supports to their families and other neighborhood residents. Services provided included:

McKinley After School Program
The After-school program provides a wide-array of FREE services to youth between the ages of 5 and 13 years old. Our activities include:
- Homework help, academic tutoring,
- Art, mathematics and science education
activities,
- Cultural workshops,
- Sports activities, field trips,
- College prep workshops, youth leadership
activities, Seasonal events,
- Recreational activities and much more…
We also promote the development of leadership skills and responsibilities, and support the development of positive behaviors and academic performance. All of our programs encourage parental involvement.

Norris Square’s Children Center
The Norris Square Civic Association Children Center’s mission is to prepare young children to enter the school system with the solid knowledge of Spanish and English language, Puerto Rican/Latino culture, and ethnic identity. The Children’s Center implements a dual language educational-social program for children between the ages of 0-5 years old. Our program offers developmentally appropriate activities in a dual language immersion environment where child’s creativity and play is leading them to school readiness. We engage in partnerships with our parents and our community, setting up the stage for building a strong community and becoming advocates for our children.
Our State Licensed Norris Square Children’s Center has:
