Penn State Extension Well Connected Communities

Penn State Extension’s Well Connected Communities program empowers communities to come together to help their residents be healthier at every stage of life. The program is a partnership between the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the National 4-H Council.

Our goal of is to work with Norris Square community members around cross-disciplinary leadership and support around youth development, local food systems, community gardening, community development and nutrition education.

Through this effort, Penn State Extension has co-created a new 4-H summer program with the NSCA IPS staff, helped to develop the NSCA early childhood center garden, and offered nutrition education programs for parents and caretakers of school-aged children. We are also currently working with community members to develop a community profile for Norris Square.
